February's full Moon is known as the Snow Moon, after the heavy snowfall often associated with this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, but is also sometimes called the Storm Moon or Hungry Moon.

Planet-watching should only get better throughout the month. Venus, the planet of love, will shine brightest on Valentine's Day (February 14) and throughout the week. Saturn and Mercury will also make a close encounter on February 24, with "galaxy season" commencing just days later.

Other exciting things to keep an eye out for in the night sky this month are bright planets. The planets will continue to put on a display throughout February as they did during their 'planetary parade' last month. Venus, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune aligned in the sky on January 21.
