All Tornado Warnings issued in New Jersey have expired. A Tornado Watch remains in effect in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean counties until 10 p.m.
A tornado warning is in effect for parts of Sussex County and other areas of western New Jersey on the evening of May 6, according to the National Weather Service.
Tornadoes in New Jersey are not rare. They occur a couple of times each year. The most recent one took place near Trenton, in Lawrence Township, in June 2024, as confirmed by the NWS.
