Days after the Lufthansa Group closed its purchase of 41% of Italy's ITA Airways, the group began the process of combining with the airline.

The full integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group is already underway, with the Italian carrier also set to join Star Alliance in 2026.

ITA Airways has terminated its membership in the SkyTeam Alliance, which will see the Italian airline exit the group by 30 April 2025.
