The WLOX First Alert Weather Team is tracking Major Hurricane Milton. Milton has been dealing with very dry air and wind shear this morning causing some significant weakening of the storm. However, Milton is still expected to make landfall as a major category 3 hurricane.

After battering the west coast of Florida with winds, pounding rain and storm surge, Hurricane Milton roared onshore near Siesta Key at 8:30 p.m. as a powerful Category 3 hurricane with estimated wind speeds of 120 mph.

Hurricane Milton will continue to bring catastrophic flooding, life-threatening storm surge and destructive winds to the Florida Peninsula overnight.
