New York voters will decide whether to make abortion rights part of the state constitution this November. Proposition 1 on New York's ballot is called the Equal Protection of Law Amendment.

The battle over Prop 1 has largely broken down along partisan lines, with lawmakers and organizations on the left organizing in support of the measure and those on the right against it.

Several civic and left-leaning groups have called on New York voters to approve Proposition 1, focused on abortion rights, but reject five changes to the City Charter pushed by Mayor Eric Adams and his allies.

Over 20 states already have a version of the ERA, but Prop 1 would also prohibit reproductive discrimination and codify abortion access in the state.
