Nationals shortstop C.J. Abrams hit a sharp grounder that pulled Pete Alonso away from first base. Running to cover first base, Senga received a high throw from Alonso, landing awkwardly on his right foot. After completing the out, Senga fell to the ground on the grass in foul territory, reaching for his right hamstring.

Senga (7-3) allowed one hit and one walk before getting hurt while making a leaping grab of Pete Alonso’s high throw to first base in the sixth inning. He is headed for the injured list.

Senga allowed just two base runners in the first 5 1/3 innings before racing to cover first on CJ Abrams’ grounder to Pete Alonso. Senga made a leaping grab of Alonso’s high throw and touched the bag with his right foot on his way down.
