Former women’s world No. 1 Simona Halep has criticized the “big difference in treatment” she received from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) compared to the body’s handling of Iga Świątek’s failed test.

Iga Świątek will serve the final few days of her month-long doping ban while there is no tennis happening after authorities accepted her explanation about how she tested positive to a banned heart medication.

Iga Swiatek has described being given a one-month ban as the “worst experience of my life” as the tennis world was stunned by another doping case involving one of its most high-profile players. The Pole was ranked world number one when she provided a sample containing the angina medication trimetazidine in an out-of-competition test on August 12.
