China discovers Earth's largest gold mine in Hunan Province, with 1,100 tons of gold worth $83 billion. This 'supergiant' find shakes global markets and sets new records.

Valued at approximately 600 billion yuan or US$83 billion, the discovery could be considered the largest and most lucrative reservoir of gold ever uncovered, surpassing the 900 metric tons estimated to lie within the mother of all gold reserves, South Deep mine in South Africa.

In a recent development it has been known that most probably the world’s largest deposit of gold has been discovered in China which is worth around $80 billion.

China's recent discovery of a gold treasure worth Rs 7 lakh crore has shifted focus to global gold reserves, with India holding 840.76 tonnes, ranking eighth. The US, Germany, and Italy top the list with the largest reserves.
