State Sen. Tony Hwang announced Monday he intends to run for Fairfield first selectman after petitioning for a special election. The town's previous first selectman, Democrat Bill Gerber, died in July following two brain surgeries after he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in June.
Fairfield National enjoyed another huge inning at the Little League World Series, this time using strong hitting and bold base running to score 10 runs.
The Connecticut Lottery player was one of eight Powerball players across the nation to win a prize totaling over $100,000 following the drawing, according to Powerball. The player initially won $50,000, and $50,000 was added to their winnings due to a Power Play. The odds of winning were one in over 913,000, according to the Powerball odds page.
