Carlos Alcaraz started winning important titles as early as 2022, when he was not yet 20 years old. The Spanish champion was very precocious, considering that he won two Masters 1000 and a Grand Slam title at the US Open that season.

Carlos Alcaraz is very open about the fact that he grew up idolizing Rafael Nadal, and the gratitude he holds for the tennis legend hasn't faltered. So, he understandably didn't handle Nadal's retirement lightly.

Carlos Alcaraz said “I did it for Rafa” after putting Spain level with the Netherlands in their Davis Cup quarter-final. Rafael Nadal is set to retire at this week’s team tournament and he lost potentially his final match to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the first match of the tie.

In the deciding doubles match, the 22-year-old returned to the court and teamed up with Marcel Granollers. Sadly for the four-time Grand Slam winner, he and the Spanish doubles veteran didn't manage to deliver as van de Zandschulp and Wesley Koolhof claimed a 7-6 (4) 7-6 (3) win.
