Emergency crews from across Maryland came together on Tuesday as floodwaters dominated Allegany County. Tuesday's rain brought severe flooding to the town of Westernport. Crews say 150 students and 50 staff members were rescued from an elementary school after water started to overtake the second floor.
The devastating flooding, which impacted parts of Maryland and Virginia, also trapped more than 200 students and teachers.

The body of a 12-year-old boy has been found after he was swept away by rushing water on a Virginia roadway, while a dozen students stayed overnight at a Maryland high school as heavy rains led to flooding in several states, officials said.
"We need the full strength of our state and federal partners, and we need it now," Legislator Kelly Fitzpatrick said in response to flooding.
Local crews are being dispatched to Allegany County, Maryland Tuesday afternoon to assist with flood response.
