DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Israel appeared to be expanding its air campaign against Tehran five days after its surprise attack on Iran’s military and nuclear program, as U.S. President Donald Trump posted an ominous message warning residents of the capital to evacuate.
European foreign ministers told their Iranian counterpart in a call on Monday to return to nuclear negotiations with the U.S. and refrain from escalating conflict with Israel, to which Iran's foreign minister said Tehran's priority was to confront Israel for now,
President Donald Trump urged civilians living in Tehran to evacuate the Iranian capital "before there is nothing left."
Tehran is undecided on whether it will attend the next round of negotiations with the U.S., an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said in state media. U.S. and Iranian officials were expected to meet for a sixth round of talks in Oman Sunday.
The two sides were scheduled to meet for a sixth round of negotiations on Sunday. Oman, which was set to host the talks, said on Saturday that this round had been canceled.
In the span of about eight hours, President Donald Trump went from suggesting a nuclear deal with Iran remained “achievable” to urging Tehran’s 9.5 million residents to flee for their lives
