I am thinking I would not be concerned much....most of the people renting are not regular fisherman for that body of water so in that respect if they come once or twice a year it wouldn't impact my life. In all areas, a shanty must be removed if ice conditions become unsafe, regardless of the date. After the above dates, a shanty must be removed at the end of each day’s fishing activity. Oct 10, 2004 · Bought a Viking shanty 10 yrs ago. Back then I was a believer in "lighter is better". Works great in a lightwind but on a real windy day the light ones can be a real pain to set up, make sure that you have something to anchor them to the ice with, (Iuse 2 railroad tie spikes and some small sections of rope).
